My Mission
You don’t need a degree in special education to effectively advocate for your child. But attempting to understand special education can come with confusing terminology, scores, and jargon. You’re asked to make important decisions about your child’s education when you may not fully get what it all means. As a school psychologist, I’ve seen parents struggle to understand special education, evaluation scores, IEP discussions, and what each step of the process means for their child’s future. I’ve seen parents quietly observe during meetings because they don’t know how to contribute or what they’re supposed to say. Parents are essential members of their child’s educational team, but many are unfamiliar with how the special education process works. Every parent deserves to confidently participate in discussions about their child.
I created IEP Equipped with the goal of equipping parents with the knowledge they need to be effective advocates and active participants in the special education process. My three separate digital guides will help you gain a greater understanding of special education, the evaluations, the eligibility meeting, and IEP meetings. You can buy them individually or as a bundle to save. These guides will provide you with information necessary to go into your child’s meetings ready to participate as an equally important member of the team. As a parent, you already have a priceless piece of the puzzle – expertise about your child. IEP Equipped helps you understand special education so you can turn that knowledge into informed advocacy.
